"If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour, you're gonna see some serious shit!"
"What does Doc mean by that?" I wonder as I focus the camcorder on the DeLorean. I can hear a beeping from my left and a sideways glance tells me that Doc is fiddling with his remote control. The car starts moving toward us, steadily gaining speed.
I decide to step out of the way, which I think is a sensible thing to do. I look back at Doc to see him looking at me. His eyes fall to the ground where I had been standing, then rise to meet mine again. I take the hint and I reluctantly move back to my former spot. My nerves continue to build as the DeLorean gets closer and closer.
I know that Doc can get carried away with his experiments, but he wouldn't be crazy enough to let us get run over in the name of science. Would he? I decide that I'm not going to be a sitting duck and I try to bolt, but Doc grabs my arm and pulls me back.
"Watch this! Watch this!" he says excitedly.
"Watch what?" I wonder. "Watch us get turned into road pizza? No thanks!"
However, Doc seems totally oblivious to the danger posed. I try to tell myself that if Doc thinks this experiment is safe, then I should trust his judgment. Still, that DeLorean is too close for comfort and I shut my eyes tight, waiting for the car to run us both down.
Instead, I fell a sharp gust of wind and I feel something incredibly warm around my feet. Doc is yelling excitedly now and I open my to find that I'm still alive and I'm standing in a waning trail of fire. I look around for the DeLorean, but there is no sign of it anywhere.
Doc is saying something about the DeLorean being the world's first time machine. I look at him, dumbfounded. "Time machine?"
"Heavy."
